5/11/2005 - Vegas? Meh.

I think I may have just made the last step in becoming a serious player.

You see, I'm going to Vegas this weekend and yet all I can think about is how much money it's costing me.  I look at my expectation for playing a full weekend's worth of the 10/20 6max on Party, and compare it to the expectation if I even played 40/80 at the Wynn, and the two just aren't even close--the 10/20 is easily worth twice as much.  Add in the airfare, hotel costs, food, yadda yadda, and this is going to be one very expensive weekend.

So, in short, poker has really become a business for me.  And weekends in Vegas are extremely suboptimal business strategy.  I guess thinking like that is really good for my bottom line, but I'm unsure how good it is overall.  I mean, I should be able to just go out and enjoy a weekend in Vegas with friends, right? 

Oh well.  As soon as I'm out there and back at a live table slinging chips around, I won't really care.  But the opportunity cost aspect of it will still be in the back of my mind, gnawing away.

And ultimately, just like that, the last vestiges of the recreational player I once was are now gone.
