After over a week off from online play (and a little trip to Vegas) I returned to the online trenches last night and had my best day in about a month. I was playing 5/10 SH at pokerroom and the deck just kept hitting me in the face through all 500 or so hands I played (a short session--an hour and a half--and that was probably only about a hundred fewer hands than I played all weekend in Vegas). There's nothing like winning 16.2BB/100 to make one feel better.
Let's hope this is the start of more consistent winning.
I also did one other thing just today--I bought my very first two poker books ever. I ordered Doyle Brunson's Super System 2 and Dan Harrington's Harrington on Hold 'em. I'm a big believer that experience is the best teacher, but since I want to start getting into tournaments and other games (like triple draw) but not have to go through the long, arduous learning process I went through with limit hold 'em, I figure these books should give me a good jump start.
One game I have enjoyed and should probably read up on is seven-card stud (and stud/8 while I'm at it). Anyone know of any good stud books?
