I had a huge day online yesterday. How huge? Well, I've now officially won back every dollar I lost on the Vegas trip, over $3000, and the month isn't halfway over yet.
Interpoker continues to be a huge source of income for me. I play mostly at their six-max 2 Pound/4 Pound tables (which translates to about $3.70/$7.40) and I continue to do extremely well. Those guys will not fold anything. I get sucked out on like nobody's business, but I hold up more often than not and so am turning a very tidy profit.
An example of the "I will not fold ANYTHING" mentality (the focus here is on UTG+1):
I get AK UTG. I raise preflop. UTG+1 cold calls, as do about three others. The flop comes K83. I check, and it checks around to a guy in MP who bets. LP calls, I now check-raise. UTG+1 cold-calls again. Turn is a 2. I bet, UTG+1 calls, LP, MP call. River is a T, also putting a (albeit runner-runner) flush on the board. Also knowing that people will call any number of bets trying to hit a second pair (which they'll then raise on the river), I wimp out and check. It checks around, and I figure I must be good. UTG+1, though, shows 32o for two pair, bottom-pair-bottom-kicker on the flop, something he still felt he could call two bets with. Yowza! But those are the insanely stupid calls that are making me money so I wasn't about to complain...I was just completely incredulous at just how bad these people are.
On another occasion, I raised with AK as well, and A5 coldcalled. Flop came KK3...turn 4...river 2...and he was calling two or three bets at each step.
It's no wonder that I have days like yesterday where I won $600+ in about three or four hours of play.
Another thing I like about Interpoker in addition to the horrendous players is that the site allows unlimited betting heads up. Most poker sites have a four-bet cap regardless of the number of players. Not Interpoker.
I had AQ and raised preflop from MP. Only the BB called. The flop came Ac5s4s. BB checked, I bet, he called. Turn was the As. He checked, I bet, he raised. I called. River was the Qc. He bet and now it was my turn to raise.
This is where it got interesting. He reraised, I made it four bets, he made it five, I was like "wait, I have the nuts. Well, except..." and made it six, but he made it seven and now I'm looking at the board and I see there As4s5s seemingly flashing like a neon sign. Okay, does he have 3s2s? What else could he be going crazy with? The board is paired, he can't like a flush that much. I had raised preflop, so Aces full has to be a concern for him. But he keeps on going. Also AQ? Straight flush? Well, let's raise one more time to find out.
I make it eight bets and he immediately comes back over the top for nine. Shit, he can't be THAT stupid. Feeling slightly like a wimp, I simply call. He turns over 8s2s for the third-worst flush possible. God I felt like an idiot! He still had at least 7BB in front of him, too, and it didn't seem as though he were even close to slowing down.
About an hour later against a different opponent (although one of similar, ahem, playing ability), I'm once again heads up. He had raised preflop UTG and I reraised from LP with AA, he called and the flop came 7c4h3h. He bets, I raise, he reraises, I reraise, he reraises again. Now I'm thinking. UTG raise? He has KK or QQ he can't let go of. I decide right then and there to keep going as long as he will. Back and forth we go, raise, reraise, reraise...I'm getting a little worried. 77? But dammit, what are the chances. He would slow-play a bit more, right? And after that idiot with the flush against my top-full, I wasn't about to slow down. We keep going.
I finally put him all the way in, 18 bets, and he turns over Qh5h for the flush draw. I was half-expecting a set, but otherwise expecting KK or even the other AA. But nope, he's got more outs than I thought. The turn is a Q giving him even more outs (14 by my count) and I'm sweating. Any Q, any 5, any heart. Interpoker also has this thing where if people are all in, there's a BIG pause between the turn and river card. They like to build tension I guess. I have to say this: it works. The river finally comes and it's a black deuce. For a second there I convince myself that he hit a straight, but then the pot is pushed my way and I'm finally able to breathe again.
A hand like that just goes to show the mentality that a lot of people have--if they flop a flush draw they will put their firstborn son into the pot if that's what it takes to see the river. God bless 'em.
So yeah, I'm back to "even," so to speak. Of course, I've payed another month's worth of bills since three weeks ago, but I'm still ecstatic. As I've said many times before, let's hope it continues.
