Poker Wannabe: 10/19 - printf("Hello World!\n")

I'm off to New Orleans (read: Nawlins) in a couple of hours and I still have to pack and get ready, so this will be brief. Just for the heck of it, I'll introduce myself Q&A style.

1) Who the heck are you?

I'm a 25 year old guy living in Austin, TX. I graduated from the University of Maryland a few years ago and moved down here for a random sampling of various graduate programs at the University of Texas. I am no longer in school (yes, that means I dropped out. Again). Nor do I have a "real" job...(and, yes, I'm foreshadowing).

2) Why the heck are you writing a blog?

Short answer: Just cuz. Long answer: Err....Just cuz. Okay, really, because what I've been doing since dropping out of school in June, besides sending an average of one resume per month off to potential employers, is play poker. I play online, in home games against friends and, er, non-friends, and in casinos. And, I've been making money--enough at least to pay the bills and save a little bit each month. When I've been making trips to go to a casino, for example to Las Vegas, I would send out a trip report via email to a close circle of poker buddies, friends, family, and miscellaneous other people I felt like bugging since how I was doing seemed to spark at least a mild amount of interest.

But I was living in the past! Blogs are the new hotness, being a heck of a lot more convenient than randomly sending off emails to a group of fairly indifferent working stiffs and students. Now, rather than getting book-length emails that they have to delete, people can just come (or not come) and visit at their leisure. And, I'll be reaching out to a wider audience....haha, okay no one is going to randomly come here unless I start using phrases like HOT SEX and then they probably won't find what they were looking for anyway when they typed those words into google. Well, unless the focus of this blog changes dramatically. But still, maybe once said person gets their hand out of their pants, he or she will find what I have to say interesting, and I'll have made a new friend. Awww. Just make sure you wash up.

So, yes, the focus of this blog is poker. At least, it's my life in the world of poker. With this newfound freedom of a blog, I can (and will) make progress reports not only after casino trips, but, well, whenever the heck I feel like it! If I have a huge day online, I can get right on here and brag about it, or if I want to talk about something else, be it philosophy, politics, hot sex or baseball (Go 'Stros!) I can do that as well without spamming people's inboxes.

3) Er, that's a pretty stupid name for a blog.

Okay, okay, the name doesn't make much sense. But it just sounds right, doesn't it? I mean PokerPro Wannabe, for example, admittedly makes more sense, but sounds too long and bulky. At least to me. Grrrr.

Anyways, that's probably enough for now. Like I said, I'm off to Nawlins for some hot poker action! Full trip report this weekend when I return...
